What Are Impressions on Fiverr? (Gig Terminology Explained)

If you’re freelancing on Fiverr, you might have noticed some of its unique terminology. To use the platform to its full potential, it’s important to familiarise yourself with these terms, especially when it comes to gigs. For example, it’s important to understand impressions.

Impressions are one performance metric Fiverr uses to measure the success of a gig. Impressions measure the number of times a gig appears in a Fiverr thumbnail, such as on the homepage or when a buyer searches for a gig.

In this article, we explain what gig impressions are and whether they matter. We also take a look at other gig terminology including clicks, paused gigs, pending approval, and requires modification.

But first up, let’s take a closer look at impressions.

What Are Gig Impressions on Fiverr?

Impressions measure the number of times your gig appears in a Fiverr thumbnail on the homepage, search results, category or sub-category page, and user page. Impressions help you understand how visible your gig is to buyers.

When a buyer searches for blog writing gigs on Fiverr and your gig appears in their results, your gig will get an impression when the buyer scrolls to it. Impressions are different from clicks. The buyer doesn’t have to click and view your gig to register an impression. They simply need to view your gig thumbnail.

Impressions are an important analytics metric to understand if you want to succeed on Fiverr. While they don’t measure whether someone purchases your gig, impressions indicate your gig’s level of exposure. The higher your impressions are, the more likely buyers are to come across your gig.

So, how do you find out how many impressions a gig has?

Viewing Your Gig’s Impressions

It’s important to familiarise yourself with Fiverr’s gig homepage and understand what its terminology means. The gig homepage gives you an overview of your active, paused, pending, and denied gigs on Fiverr, as well as each gig’s metrics.

To view a gig’s metrics, including impressions:

  1. Log in to your Fiverr account
  2. Click on Selling, then Gigs
  3. Click on a gig title to see the statistics for it

This shows a gig’s statistics from the last 30 days. The performance metrics displayed here include:

  • Impressions
  • Clicks
  • Orders
  • Cancelations
  • Conversion rates (the average of total impressions divided by orders)

How Can You Increase a Gig’s Impressions?

There are several things you can do to increase your gig’s impressions. Firstly, it pays to do some keyword research when writing your gig title. This will help ensure that your gig appears in buyers’ search results. Just make sure you avoid keyword stuffing!

Adding a video is another way to help your gig appear on Fiverr’s homepage and in the search results.

Do Impressions Matter?

Gig impressions on Fiverr do matter. But when it comes to a gig’s performance metrics, impressions are only half the picture. Impressions reflect how often potential buyers view your gig. But if those buyers don’t click or buy your gig, then you won’t make any income.

Impressions are important. The higher number of impressions your gig has, the more chances there are of buyers seeing it. But you also need a buyer to click on your gig to read more about it or contact you. You also need them to purchase the gig if you want to make any money on Fiverr!

That’s why you also need to also look at the number of clicks on a gig.

What Are Gig Clicks on Fiverr?

Gig clicks measure the number of times buyers click on a gig after seeing it on Fiverr’s homepage, search, category/subcategory page, or user page.

Gig clicks are a good indication of how impactful your gig is. If your gig has a high number of impressions but a low number of clicks, then it might be worth reviewing it.

What Can You Do To Improve Gig Clicks?

If your gig clicks are low, this may be because of your gig title, description, and images. Review these to make sure they’re engaging and accurately describe what your gig is.

Take a look at some of the best-performing gigs in your niche. See what they’re doing differently when it comes to presenting their gig (for inspiration – don’t copy!).

It’s also important to try and stand out from the crowd. After all, there are thousands of freelancers on Fiverr. Think about what makes your gig unique and make this clear in the description.

What Are Paused Gigs on Fiverr?

If a gig is paused, it’s on hold and isn’t visible to buyers. Fiverr may pause a gig or you might want to pause a gig if you’re unable to offer it for a while.

Paused gigs aren’t visible to buyers. So it’s worth keeping an eye on your gig list and reactivating any gigs Fiverr pauses. Fiverr may pause a gig when an account is inactive e.g. you haven’t signed into it for a while.

You can also pause a gig yourself while you’re unable to offer it. You might do this when you’re sick and unable to work or are at capacity with other gigs in your queue.

What Does Pending Approval Mean on Fiverr Gigs?

If a gig is pending approval, it’s awaiting review by Fiverr’s team before it’s active and visible to buyers.

When you create a gig on Fiverr, Fiverr’s team may need to review it before it becomes active. For example, gigs with videos always go to Fiverr’s team for pre-approval. It can take up to 3 business days for Fiverr to review pending gigs.

While a gig is pending approval, it won’t be visible to buyers and so can’t accumulate impressions.

What Does Requires Modification Mean on Fiverr?

If a gig requires modification, you need to make some changes to it before Fiverr will approve it. Buyers can’t see gigs that require modification.

During the gig review process, if the Fiverr team finds an issue with your gig, they may ask you to modify it. For example, Fiverr may ask you to change the service category of the gig once they’ve read more about what you’re offering.

While a gig requires modification, it isn’t visible to buyers. Once you make the necessary changes, the gig becomes active and buyers can see it.

In some cases, rather than requesting modification, Fiverr will simply reject a gig.

Why Would a Gig Be Denied on Fiverr?

Fiverr will reject a gig if it breaches Fiverr’s terms of service. Examples of gigs that violate Fiverr’s terms of service include ones that:

  • Offer a banned service
  • Contain inappropriate content
  • Contain a copyrighted video or image

If this happens, you will need to start again. Once you know why Fiverr denied your gig, create a new one that complies with Fiverr’s terms of service.

Learning Fiverr’s terminology is essential to succeeding on the platform. By understanding gig performance metrics such as impressions, you can optimise your gigs to attract more buyers.
