Fiverr Level 1 Seller Requirements (Guide & Tips)

Whether you’re new to Fiverr or if you’re a long-time seller on the platform, you’ll have come across the levelling system. You start out as an aptly named New Seller, but you may be wondering what it takes to become a Level 1 Seller on Fiverr.

To become a Level 1 Seller on Fiverr, you must:

  • Be active on the platform for at least 60 days
  • Have completed at least 10 orders
  • Have earned at least $400
  • Have a 4.7-star rating
  • Have 90% response, order completion, and on-time delivery rates
  • Have had no warnings in the last 30 days

Below, we’ll go into more detail about each of these requirements and provide detail on why each of them is in place. Then we’ll give you some tips on how you can level up on Fiverr faster!

How Do You Get Level 1 Seller On Fiverr?

When you first get started on Fiverr, you’re known as a New Seller. As a New Seller, you can create 7 gigs, which is likely enough for most newbies. You get some other features that the higher levels get too, but you don’t have much credibility yet on the platform. Naturally, you want to become a Level 1 Seller.

But becoming a Level 1 Seller takes hard work and commitment, as the requirements above make clear. It’s not just about offering gigs and completing a few orders, as you need to show Fiverr that you mean business and are worth having on the platform. Because Fiverr takes a cut of your earnings, they make money when you make money, so they ideally want money makers on their platform!

It’s An Automated Process

Note that the process of becoming a Level 1 Seller is automated (once you tick all the boxes). Fiverr will review your performance over the last 60 days once per month, and if you do everything right, you should be made a Level 1 Seller fairly quickly.

I remember when I first made it to Level 1. It was a brilliant felling seeing the email come through congratulating me – that alone is well worth the wait! (As is the influx of orders you’ll likely see as your status on the platform receives a much needed boost!)

But what are the specific things you need to do to become a Level 1 Seller? And are there any ways you can make it happen faster?

Being Active On The Platform

Being an active seller for 60 days is easy, but it obviously takes a bit of waiting. You just need to be active on the platform, offering gigs and taking orders. At least 10 of them to be precise.

This might sound daunting for absolute beginners, but it’s not too bad if you put the work in and aim to get as many positive reviews as possible. Reviews are key on Fiverr, as not only do you need to maintain an average of 4.7 stars over a given time period (usually 60 days), but you will also need them if you want to have any credibility for future buyers.

You Need Reviews

But don’t worry, many buyers are kind enough to leave a review, and even if they don’t do so immediately, you can always ask them later, as they have up to 10 days to provide feedback on any orders. In my experience, I found that most buyers would either leave a 5-star review, or not leave one at all. Obviously your mileage may vary, but all I’m trying to say is that there’s no need to be intimidated by that 4.7-stars-out-of-5 review requirement.

Making Enough Money

Earning at least $400 means you’ll either need to make an average of $40 per order for 10 in total, or, more likely, you’ll need to get more than 10 orders. Again, don’t be intimidated by the numbers. As long as you provide quality work and get good reviews, you should begin to see more orders trickle in. If not, you might need to start changing up your gigs (more on that towards the end of this article).

The 90% Requirements

The response rate requirement is fairly straightforward – just reply to people quickly. Within a day ideally, but if you’re active on the platform you’ll find it’s easy to keep up to date with notifications turned on.

The 90% completion rate just means you shouldn’t have too many cancelled orders. To do this, always provide high-quality service, and make sure you and the buyer are clear on all aspects of the project before you begin. And always deliver on time – it’s not worth the stress of missing a deadline, never mind potentially sacrificing your chance at levelling up for another 60 days!

Note that in order to remain a Level 1 Seller, you must continuously adhere to the 90% requirements over a 60-day period and maintain a 4.7-star rating over the same 60-day period. This means that if you drop one of these down to 70% or your average rating drops to 3 stars, you can be demoted to a New Seller.

Be A Good Seller

Finally, don’t get any warnings. Don’t be rude to buyers, don’t swear or use spammy messaging tactics, and don’t give out your personal information. Don’t explicitly ask for a 5-star review or ask them to remove negative feedback, and don’t misrepresent yourself or your services. Basically, don’t do anything stupid!

I recommend familiarizing yourself with Fiverr’s terms and conditions if you want to be on the safe side.

So, what will you get when you finally become a Level 1 Seller on Fiverr?

Fiverr Level 1 Seller Benefits

BenefitWhat This Means
Up to 10 gigsYou can create 3 more awesome gigs!
4 gig extras per gigYou can offer some extra value to your clients

More Gigs

Once you make the leap to Level 1 Seller on Fiverr, you get an additional 3 gig slots, and you can offer up to 4 gig extras on each one (up to $1,000 per extra). Let’s start with the additional gigs.

You should always make use of all your available gig slots as best you can. This just boosts your chances of gaining exposure, and your gigs can simply be variants of the same service. If you’re a freelance writer for example, you might offer eBook writing, website copy, and article writing as three separate gigs.

Having 10 available gives you plenty of room to play with, and you’ll be able to offer more specific services, allowing for more specific targeting of potential buyers in the search results. The less important benefit in my opinion is in the form of gig extras.

Gig Extras

In my experience, most buyers want to negotiate a custom offer by getting in touch with your first. If that’s not their intention from the start, it’s likely a conversation you’ll push once they get in touch with you, as it allows you to create an offer that works best for both parties.

However, some buyers will simply press the order button without getting in touch with you first, and in this case it’s best to offer some additional extras they can select to sort of create their own custom offer. These will vary depending on the services you have to offer, but they could be things like additional words or the inclusion of images or video.

Having up to 4 is handy, but it’s probably not going to be game changing for you. However, this all depends on the service, as some services may make it easier to simply press the buy button. When I was offering freelance writing services on Fiverr, most people simply had a lot of questions or requests they wanted to clear up before getting started, and so most orders were custom orders.

Other Benefits

Note that as a Level 1 Seller you get the usual ‘benefits’ of being able to create custom offers (up to $20,000) and you need to wait 14 days to withdraw your earnings. The former doesn’t change and the latter only changes when you become a Top Rated Seller.

5 Top Tips To Become A Level 1 Seller On Fiverr

My 5 top tips to become a Level 1 Seller on Fiverr are:

  1. Offer lots of high-quality gigs
  2. Be prepared to tweak your offerings
  3. Always deliver on time
  4. Respond to messages as soon as you can
  5. Shoot for lots of 5-star reviews

1. Offer Lots Of High-Quality Gigs

Offering your maximum number of gigs (7) is key when you’re a new seller. It’ll ensure you’re maximizing your chances of appearing in Fiverr’s search results, and as long as they’re high-quality in every aspect, from the description to the images, you’re also maximizing your chances of getting some orders!

2. Be Prepared To Tweak Your Offerings

You will need to tweak your gigs if you don’t get orders within a few weeks, or a few months at most. Don’t be afraid to play around with gig titles and descriptions to see what works. You may even need to consider offering some different services!

3. Always Deliver On Time

This is a must. Never miss a deadline, and you’ll never need to worry about the 90% requirement. But more importantly, you’ll never disappoint clients in terms of delivering things when they need them.

4. Respond To Messages As Soon As You Can

You should also respond to any messages as soon as you can. Keep your notifications on and check the app or website frequently to ensure you never miss a question or potential buyer.

5. Shoot For Lots Of 5-Star Reviews

Finally, aim to provide a service worthy of a 5-star review every time you take on an order. Reviews will boost your stature on the platform, making you appear more credible to potential buyers and improving your chances of working your way up the seller levels as fast as possible.
